Our Parents Home
Our Parents Home is located in Norwood and houses 220 residents. It was established in 1940, initially to welcome Jewish immigrants fleeing from the horrors of the holocaust, and incorporated into the Chevrah Group in 2001. At this pleasant facility, residents interact socially with each other in a safe, structured environment. Arts, crafts, concerts, quizzes, exercise classes, games and bingo are organised regularly. Guest lecturers cover a large spectrum of subjects and regular Shiurim are provided by visiting Rabbonim. The hairdresser, manicurist and podiatrist are accessible to residents and a team of social workers offers supportive counselling to them.
A Day Care programme has been carefully designed for elderly people who do not need the residential services of an aged home, but who wish to benefit from the social and therapeutic advantages provided there.
Patients at Our Parents Home who are in need of hospitalisation are sometimes admitted into the Sandringham Gardens hospital. Many synergies are evident as the two Homes work together to provide holistic care to the aged. An example of this is the specialised Alzheimers ward at Our Parents Home, known as the Sunshine Circle, which offers expert medical care and nursing.
